  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • flour
    1. Place the warm water in a large bowl and sprinkle in the yeast.  Let stand 5 minutes.  Stir to dissolve.
    2. Add the sugar, salt, and oil.  Stir in 3 cups of flour.
    3. Adding more flour as necessary, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth ad elastic. 
    4. Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    5. Preheat the oven to 500 F.
    6. Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each piece into a 6 inch circle.  Place on a piece of greased tin foil.  Bake for about 7 minutes until puffed and lightly browned.
